AF Rayspeed 200cc & 225cc Rapido Kits

The"Rapido" cylinder kit from AF Rayspeed is an affordable high quality "touring" kit. It was designed to bridge the gap between stock cylinders and high end racing kits such as the TS1, which requires some fairly radical modifications to the scooter's engine (and in some cases the frame).

By contrast, the Rapido kit will fit a standard 200cc engine with no modifications. It can be run with a stock carburetor and exhaust system, or better yet with a moderate sized carb and a performance exhaust system, without having to remove the battery tray from the frame or cut away large portions of the cooling shroud to clear the intake and exhaust manifolds, as is necessary with TS1 kits.

The 200cc kit actually has more intake timing than the 225cc kit, and is therefor best suited for use with a larger carburetor in the 28-35mm range and relatively low gearing (4.90:1 maximum 4th gear ratio) to allow it to rev out and reach peak power. The 225cc kit has more conservative intake timing, and as such is an excellent choice for a 'torquey', low revving engine with tall gearing and a moderate sized carb. This makes for an awesome setup for pulling hills, riding two up, etc., and can be used with 4th gear ratios up to 4.4:1 as found in TV200 models.

Aluminum cooling fins for improved cooling and expansion properties compared to stock cylinders. Because the fins are cast around the bore and ports, the sleeve can never come loose, and cooling is greatly improved due to better heat transfer.
Cast iron bore allows reboring if necessary
Four transfer ports as in the TS1 kit for improved power output throughout the rev range
Stage 4 intake and exhaust port timings for better high RPM performance
High quality Asso brand piston with two 1.5mm rings for durability and performance
Accepts standard intake and exhaust manifolds (minimum recommended components are GP200 22mm carb and large bore exhaust system, delivering approximately 13hp)
More power obtainable with use of a larger carb (up to 35mm) and an expansion chamber system (delivering 15-18hp)
Maximum power (comparable to TS1) obtainable with addition of reed valve manifold #472.A ($235) and additional boost port in cylinder ($60). Removal of the battery tray from the frame is not needed as with the TS1, power output of 20hp or more is obtainable, and unlike the TS1 the cylinder can be rebored without expensive replating (use of reed valve manifold requires a hole in the left side panel for carburator).
