Hello fellow Lambretta nut!Happy holidays from all of us here, including Guillermo, Dave, Dan, Kelly, and Sean. We'd like to thank you for your patronage over the years, and we appreciate the fact that you have continued to support us with the pending sale of LambrettaWorks in 2006.It has truly been a wonderful 20 years for me (yes TWO DECADES!), and many good people have come forward expressing interest in taking over LambrettaWorks and keeping it a vital part of North America's scooter scene. I have quite a bit of confidence that whoever takes over the reins will continue to make LambrettaWorks a dependable source for the best parts, accessories, and service for the World's Finest Scooter. That said, let's get on with the latest news from North America's longest running Lambretta business... Just place an order through the website anytime through January 15th, 2006 and you will receive up to 20% off the whole order. Members of affiliated Lambretta clubs (LCUSA, LCGB, etc.) always get an additional 5% off for a discount of 10%. The winter discount adds the following discounts to online orders placed anytime through January 15th, 2006: $100 - $199.99 = additional 2% off Ebay AuctionsWe have recently unearthed a large stash of vintage American and British scooter magazines and literature from the 1950's and '60's. These rare finds are jam packed with brilliant period articles and advertisements related to all kinds of scooters, microcars, and three wheelers. We have also come across some original Innocenti dealer price tag cards that were made for hanging on the hadlebars and displaying the price of new scooters on the showroom floor! Check out our current eBay auctions to see what is on offer:http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ50QQsassZcalambretta Qustom Brake DetailsThe the first new product to be announced under the Qustom (pronounced 'KUS-tom') name - the hydraulic brake conversion for any Series 1, 2, or 3 Lambretta - has been received with rave reviews by those forward thinking scooterists who have made the leap. On the surface it is a very simple idea, taken from the hydraulic clutch mechanisms found on some modern dirt bikes. In reality it was a very difficult project to bring to fruition. The slave cylinder has a much smaller fluid volume than most brake calipers, and this required a proportionately small master cylinder to deliver the proper braking force. Furthermore, the slave cylinder is not compatible with standard DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluids; it therefor became imperative to use a master cylinder that has not only a smaller than normal fluid volume, but compatibility with brake fluid other than DOT 3 or 4. The last piece to the puzzle was to have some special brake lines made with the smaller 6mm banjo fitting required by the slave cylinder. This small fitting also allows the brake line to be routed through a hole in the master cylinder mount, eliminating the need to drill any holes in the headset. The result is a product that is easy to install, looks unobtrusive even on a classic scoot, includes a wiring loom for the front brake light switch which is quite simple to connect, and delivers much more stopping power than a standard cable operated brake. There is no other kit on the market that can be installed without even removing the front wheel from the scooter! Rumor has it that some people have already tried to 'reverse engineer' our kit, but the parts involved are nearly impossible to locate separately through retail channels, and one would end spending as much on the separate components as they would on our complete kit anyhow.
If you're even the least bit unsatisfied with your scoot's brakes, take the plunge now - you won't be sorry! For Italian/Spanish Series 3 models: http://www.lambretta.net/shop/shopexd.asp?id=6226 Specials on our WebsiteIn addition to our annual Winter Sale, we have some select items on special on our website, including Rapido 225cc cylinder kits for $349, "Annihilator" cylinder kits for $849 ($798 for LCUSA members), Tutto Lambretta Series 1/2 mufflers for $149, Italian made blue SX/TV long seat covers for $89.80, 60mph Series 3 speedometers for $34.99, Italian front dampeners for $34.99 each, and more. Buy any of these items online at these special prices and receive further discounts as outlined above. Check out our current specials here: http://www.lambretta.net/shop/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=1&cat=Featured+ItemsJL USA UpdateAs you may know, in 2003 we became an authorized distributor of Jim Lomas' complete JL line of exhaust systems, which we sold through the website www.jlexhaustsusa.com. Without going into specifics, suffice it to say that Mr. Lomas backed out of an agreement he had previously made to supply us with his full line of motorcycle exhausts. Since reaching this impasse, we have decided to take the website down. With the all too often failure of the rivets on JL silencers, and performance that was less than we had hoped for, this was not a difficult decision. In the future we will be stocking Lambretta exhausts from MB Developments, Taffspeed, and PM Tuning.Well that's it for now. Once again, have a great holiday season, ride safe, and thank you for your business! |
